Name: Name re-used in 1922 by Esper Signius Larsen, Jr. and Earl Victor Shannon for a new mineral somewhat chemically similar to the original material, but which had proved to be a mixture. The original bustamite from Real de Minas, Fetela (Tetela de Ocampo), Jonotla, Mexico was a mixture of rhodonite and johannsenite. Originally named in 1826 by Alexandre Brongniart in honor of Anastasio Bustamente y Oseguera [1780, 1853], a medical doctor, revolutionary, general, and three time president of Mexico.
